How Ascensa LLC, operating as Ascensa Education, handles information for students, families, tutor applicants, and website visitors.

A note about students and families

Many of our students are under the age of 18. We ask that a parent or legal guardian review this policy, complete consultation or enrollment forms, and provide consent before a minor uses our services. Where a student is under 13, we follow the additional requirements described in the Children's privacy section below.

Information we collect

Information you provide to us

When you contact us, request a consultation, enroll, purchase a package, apply to tutor, or communicate with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details such as parent, guardian, student, or applicant name, email address, phone number, and general location.
  • Student information such as grade level, school, target test, test dates, academic goals, and scheduling availability.
  • Score information such as prior SAT or ACT scores, practice test results, baseline scores, progress data, and related study notes.
  • Messages, consultation notes, form submissions, emails, and other information you choose to provide.
  • Payment, billing, and transaction information when you purchase a package, processed through a third-party payment provider.
  • Tutor applicant information such as education, scores, experience, availability, and application responses.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information such as IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, and approximate location.
  • Usage information such as pages viewed, links clicked, referral pages, and time spent.
  • Information collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Information from third parties

We may receive information from service providers that help us operate, such as payment processors, scheduling tools, hosting providers, email providers, analytics providers, and communications tools.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information.

  • With tutors.We share the information a tutor needs to prepare for and deliver sessions, such as a student's goals, scores, scheduling details, and relevant progress notes.
  • With service providers. We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, scheduling, hosting, email delivery, analytics, document management, and communications.
  • For payments. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. Ascensa may receive transaction details, payment status, limited billing information, and refund records, but we do not receive or store full card numbers.
  • For legal reasons. We may disclose information when required by law, to respond to legal process, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Ascensa, our students, tutors, or others, or to investigate fraud or security issues.
  • In a business transfer. If Ascensa is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With your direction or consent. We may share information in other ways with your permission.

Cookies and tracking

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, understand how the site is used, and improve our services. You can usually adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, though some features may not work properly without them.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide services, maintain records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and support legitimate business needs. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

California residents. Where California privacy law applies, California residents may have additional rights, including the rights listed above and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising them. We do not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.

Children's privacy

Our services are intended to be arranged and managed by parents or legal guardians on behalf of students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information without parental consent, contact us at hello@ascensaedu.com and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Third-party links

Our website may contain links to other websites or third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last updated date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the website or by email where appropriate.
